Matchless Thunderman (1994)

The original Matchless Thunderman fliptop regularly shows up in lists of the best bass amps ever made. It was one of the last projects headed up a living legend, Mark Sampson, the founder of Matchless Amplifiers before his departure in 1999. Today there are supposedly fewer than 200 of these original Thunderman amps in the world. We bought it after years of borrowing it from its previous owner Tracy Stanton. It’s been on nearly every recording at Miner Street since 2005.
